Purchase your Boa from a breeder who has a knowledge of boas and is willing to answer any questions you may have about that animal. Look for a captive bred boa that has clear firm skin, rounded body shape, clean vent, clear eyes, and who flicks its tongue when handled. When held, the snake should grip you gently but firmly as it is moving around. It should be alert to its surroundings. All young snakes see themselves as food for larger snakes, birds, lizards and other larger predators, so your young boa may be a bit nervous at first but should settle down with some handling. There is little difference in temperament between males and females. Captive-bred Colombian B. c. imperators and B. c. constrictors are the nicest, least aggressive of all the Boas. Captive-bred Boas of all subspecies are more docile than their wild-caught counterparts so always ask if captive bred before buying. |
If you are a business or private customer looking for quantities of young boas whether to resell or for breeding purposes let me know and i'd be happy to work out a deal with you. |
| One of the things learned by me with my first Boa was that even through the excitement of my new friend, i now had a new responsibility to him as with any new pet. Boas are in my mind the perfect pet for the following reasons. They only need food weekly as compared to other pets that require it daily. They also make no noise, defecate only about as often as they are fed, eat rodents, frozen or pre-killed, come in a large variety of colors and patterns, and last but not least is the soothing cool feel and texture of their skin when holding them. Enjoy your new Boa!! |
